Ministries – Waukegan FUMC

First United Methodist Church is engaged in a number of outreach ministries to our local community and around the world.

Our Free Meal Ministry provides a hot meal every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm on the lower level of the building in Fellowship Hall. This is open to everyone and is always looking for volunteers to help out.

In addition, our pastor provides leadership at an Ecumenical Men’s Bible Study every Thursday morning beginning at 7:00am at Bob and Anne’s Restaurant, located at 1739 North Sheridan Road in Waukegan.

Narcotics Anonymous meets on Monday and Tuesday at noon. Contact the church office at 847-623-2433 or for more information.

First United Methodist Church is a sponsor and host site for meetings of Church World Service‘s organizing committee. Church World Service sponsors the annual Northern Lake County CROP Hunger Walk. Please contact Pat Ostrander at 847-406-8998 for more information.

Our church also supports other local community outreach efforts including Staben House, a transitional housing facility for women and children, and Staben Center, which supports short-term housing for men.

A Safe Place, a support network for battered women and children which provides emergency shelter, court advocacy, and counseling, is another community resource that is supported by First United Methodist Church.

Habitat for Humanity, a volunteer organization that builds and repairs houses around the world and here at home using volunteer labor and donations, is also supported by First United Methodist Church.

A Military Caring Organization is any organization committed to serving our Military Community by helping them deal with the visible and invisible wounds of military service.

A portion of our income supports world wide ministry efforts that touch the lives of countless persons with the compassionate love of Christ.
